GEORGIA POWER TEAMS UP WITH NEIGHBORHOOD LINK TO HELP BRING FREE NEIGHBORHOOD WEB SITES TO ATLANTA
ATLANTA, August 2, 2000 - Neighborhood Link (www.neighborhoodlink.com), the Internet-based community network that enables metropolitan-area neighborhood associations to create their own free, interactive Web sites, today announced that Georgia Power has signed on as the first sponsor in Atlanta to help bring this civic resource to its community.
“We’re very excited that we have teamed up with Georgia Power to bring our one-of-a-kind civic service to the Atlanta community,” said Ted Pinkowitz, CEO of Neighborhood Link. “Having a corporation like Georgia Power that is as community-focused as we are makes this sponsor an outstanding match for Neighborhood Link.”
“Neighborhood Link connects communities together via the Internet, just as Georgia Power connects communities via power lines. Both work to combine the power of neighborhoods with the right resources and information to create viable communities,” said Leonard Haynes, Georgia Power senior vice president for marketing.
By connecting neighborhoods with city government, such as Mayor Bill Campbell’s office and the Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Units, Neighborhood Link is becoming Atlanta’s primary resource for civic communication and information. Neighborhood Link’s goal is to re-create civic communication in the United States through public and private partnerships with cities and corporations. Users can obtain information on every aspect of their neighborhood, including schools, libraries, civic associations and neighborhood leaders.
Neighborhood Link enables neighborhood associations, homeowners associations, local clubs and organizations to establish and maintain their own Web sites quickly and easily by entering information into simple forms, which automatically and instantaneously create or modify Web pages. No knowledge of HTML or programming language is necessary.
