NEIGHBORHOOD LINK TEAMS WITH LONGMONT POWER AND COMMUNICATIONS TO ENHANCE CIVIC COMMUNICATIONS

DENVER, January 5, 2000 - Neighborhood Link (www.neighborhoodlink.com), an Internet-based community network that enables metropolitan-area neighborhood associations and civic organizations to create their own free, interactive Web sites has signed an exclusive sponsorship agreement with Longmont Power & Communications (LPC). As the sole Longmont sponsor, LPC is providing this newly launched unique civic resource to the community.

“Our research indicates that about 14,000 Longmont homes have Internet access today,” said Tom Roiniotis, LPC director. “That means nearly half of all Longmont homes are now using the Internet, and that number will continue to grow. The Internet has become a primary communication tool for many people.”

“By connecting neighbors, neighborhoods and community organizations with each other and city government Web sites, Neighborhood Link utilizes the Internet to create a valuable resource for civic communication and information,” said Roiniotis.

In addition to providing easy access to useful civic and local government information, Neighborhood Link enables citizens to post information about their own neighborhoods and organizations. It also provides a discussion forum for neighborhood or community issues and a link to elected officials.

Neighborhood Link enables neighborhood associations, homeowners associations and civic organizations to establish and maintain their own Web sites quickly and easily by entering information into simple forms, which automatically and instantaneously create or modify Web pages. No knowledge of HTML or programming language is necessary.

LPC is sponsoring Neighborhood Link because it will enhance communications within the Longmont community while providing LPC customers a convenient way to get information about utility services and programs, rates, billing options, electric safety, energy conservation and much more.

“We are very excited that LPC has joined us to bring Neighborhood Link to the Longmont community,” said Ted Pinkowitz, CEO of Neighborhood Link. “LPC is focused on connecting the community through electric and telecommunications services. We can help connect the community through the Internet. It’s a great match. We know Longmont citizens will benefit from the resources that our network will provide them.”
